Walking Tour of Spiders in the Woods

This (or something pretty close to it) is going to be the cover for the album I'm working on. This is a really difficult process. It is hard to step out and do something you've never done before, even when you really want to. Sometimes there is nothing and no one to encourage you, other times encouragement comes freely. It is a shaky and uncertain venture. I have to keep forcing myself to move ahead, though I hear voices saying it's pointless, why am I even trying to accomplish this...

A Song with Heidi

Heidi wanted to record this song that she likes with me. It's "One Thing Remains". I love to hear little munchkin voices singing worship.

Psalm 103 excerpt

Who pardons all of your iniquities
Who heals all the diseases within you
Who redeems your life from the pit
Who crowns you with lovingkindness and compassion

The Lord is gracious

Slow to anger abounding in lovingkindness
He has not dealt with us according to our sins
Nor rewards us according to them
For as high as the heavens are above the earth

So great is his lovingkindness toward those who fear his name
As far as the east is from the west so far
So far he removed our transgressions from us
Just as a father has compassion on his son

So the Lord has compassion on those who fear him
For he himself knows our frame
Oh he is mindful that we are but dust

But the lovingkindness of the lord is from everlasting to everlasting

Many Sparrows

Many Sparrows

I have numbered the very hairs of your head
Therefore, do not fear, do not fear
You are worth more than many sparrows

You will find many troubles here in this world
Take heart, do not fear, do not fear
I have already overcome it

I myself will go out before you and stay
With you, do not fear, do not fear
I won't abandon or forsake you

Peace I leave with you
My own peace is what I give

Not like the world has
Not how the world lives
Not what the world gives
You are worth more than many sparrows

97

This is a song snippet that was inspired by my friend Alyssa's painting,
which was inspired by:

Psalm 97:1-6,9

The Lord is king!
Let the earth rejoice!
Let the farthest coastlands be glad.
Dark clouds surround him.
Righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.
Fire spreads ahead of him
and burns up all his foes.
His lightning flashes out across the world.
The earth sees and trembles.
The mountains melt like wax before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.
The heavens proclaim his righteousness;
every nation sees his glory.
For you, O Lord, are supreme over all the earth;
you are exalted far above all gods.

Justified

A Song I wrote for church

Justified

Enter in to the courts of the King

Come in boldly and draw near the throne

Trade your mourning in for a garment of praise

The accuser has been overthrown

I have come to adore

I am walking through the veil of your chamber Lord

Through the blood of the one

Who gave Himself for me I stand before You clean

I am safe in the shadow of His wings

In His love every fear is released

Therefore now there is no condemnation for His own

In His suffering He purchased my peace

Through his blood I am now reconciled

For I cling to the victory of Christ

If the enemies of God were reconciled through His death

How much more will we be saved through His life

You are the Lamb slain before all time

You're the broken Bread, the poured out Wine

I stand before You justified

Though I was dead in sin, I have been made alive

Lowly

Lowly

How low did you go
How low did you go
Oh, very very lowly

Man born with the beasts
Man born with the beasts
Oh, very very lowly

Son of a King
High and lifted up
But you drank the cup
Of the lowest of the lowly

You gave it up
You gave it up
To be a Man
Like one of us

Fish Tank Dream

This is not really my style of music but it is so fun to goof around with Garageband!
This song is about a recurring dream I had over many years about a fish aquarium, and the interpretation I received while eating a fish taco with my friend's family. Whoa, I never thought about how ironic that was...

Wovenhand

I went to a Wovenhand concert last night in Pittsburgh. Very interesting experience. Like being in the bowels of a wooly mammoth?

Concerts make me want to be in a band. Well, I've always wanted to be in a band, but I've never felt that I could just get some people together and make it happen. I believe God is going to have to put it together, the right people, the right place, the right time. I'm not getting any younger, and at age 34 with two small children, it really doesn't look like it's going to be any time soon, but if it's meant to be, and I believe it is, it will happen someday.

Landmark

I'm halfway through my beginner's upright bass book and I just learned a song called "Bile 'Em Cabbage Down". Pretty exciting, right? What does it mean? I don't know, but it sounds like a great one to bust out at parties. "Hey Mary, do you know "Bile 'Em Cabbage Down?" "Of course I do!"

Some of the others in my repertoire:
Rosin Rap
Teeter Totter
Tribal Lament
Pepperoni Pizza
Hot Cross Buns
4th Finger Marathon
Texas Two-String
Hop Scotch
Jumping Jacks
For Pete's Sake
Olympic Challenge
Olympic High Jump
Rolling Along

I will play any of these for your party for the right price

Psalm 57

Let your mercy come like spring
To the heart who trusts in you
I will hide beneath your wings
From the evil that pursues
In you my soul takes refuge

I cry out to God most high
For you alone can give me rest
And when the lions prowl outside
You send your love and faithfulness
In you my soul takes refuge

Time to come awake my lyre
Get up off the floor my soul
Give it all it's what you've got
Give it all it's what you've got
To the one who makes you whole
In you my soul takes refuge

They have spread a net for my feet
I was bowed down in distress
They have dug a pit in my path
But they have fallen in themselves

Remain

This is from Psalm 37.

The first half of the music is not yet written yet.

Remain

Flourishing green tree
Happy in your place
You spread out, down down and out
Your roots go down, down and out you seem
To be overshadowing everything
Drawing from the blood of the city

Nicely situated in one of your veins
Looking out my window
Leaves blocking out the light
Hotel of the wicked
Monsters hide in every hole
As you lift your branches
Suffocating sunny sky shining

And here we are
What a view
One's almost four
And one is two
How do we do when
Lions prowl outside
Waiting right beyond the porch

But look oh lookie here
Hear the words that make it clear
You're going down
The children laugh
And chase you out of town
The father laughs
For your day is on the way
You're going down
Like a puff of smoke
Away you go bye bye

Do not fret because of evildoers
They will wither like the grass
Trust in the Lord and do good
Dwell in the land and grow faithfully

Evil will be cut off
It will be no more
You will watch and see it
See it with your eyes, see it with your eyes
With your eyes

Those who wait on their God
Will remain will remain

Run Like A Deer

Today when I was at church, I was walking past the preschool class and the teacher was having all the kids run around in a circle and she was yelling "Run like a deer! Run like a deer to Jesus!" And I got all choked up. God wanted me to hear that phrase and it just got me right in the heart, it made me think of the imagery of the deer panting for the water and how desperate we need to be for God. Anyway, I wrote this song tonight about it. I don't know why my voice sounds all pop-diva in it. I didn't mean to. Anyway, here it is:

Run Like A Deer
I have taken cover underneath the shelter
Of my own human strength
I’ve gone to other lovers seeking their protection
I have tirelessly sought them

Now you have brought me to the wilderness
Hedged me in behind and before
Here I am now broken hearted empty handed
I wait upon the presence of the Lord

And I run run run like a deer to you Jesus
There is no other love that satifies
I am thirsting for the living water
Only you Lord can provide

I will run to you
As You run to me Lord
I will run to you
As You run to me

Now you have brought me to the wilderness
Hedged me in behind and before
And I will worship in the glory of Your presence
Blessed are those who wait upon the Lord

Overflow Me

Recorded last night with my friends Ed and Natalie Wall.

Overflow Me

Let the water rise inside of me
Let the water rise inside of me
You have made a well inside me
Let the water swell inside me
Let the water rise inside of me

Holy Spirit reign inside of me
Holy Spirit reign inside of me
I am weak, Oh God You know me
I need You to overflow me
Holy Spirit reign inside of me

For You, You are the source of life
And You, You cannot be contained
Oh Lord, I am your vessel
Pour out your glory till You cover the earth
Rise up and spill out of me
Pour out love until You cover the whole earth

Out, Foul Layer

Part 1 of Song

A sourness, a foul layer
Sneaky crept in
I didn’t know till Dense

Once was light and blue air
Sun and easy peace
I didn’t care I miss It, I miss it

I am not horse to work I am not no mind robot
I am baby I am kid

You no monster, you no cop
You no wicked old man
Meany old man
You, friend, you partner

Melt crusty heart again
Real me in here, your friend
Oozy soft and Yours
